Action Training Systems (ATS USA), classroom streaming
Industrial fire brigade training, streamed into your classroom.
An industrial fire brigade is the team of trained employees at a workplace, a mine, factory, refinery or airport, ready to respond to a fire or emergency on that site. SkillsTrain supplies around 30 interactive industrial fire and safety course titles from Action Training Systems (ATS USA), delivered as a classroom streaming subscription or individual online access codes.
Built for on site response
If your site has its own fire brigade, this is for you
These are not slideshows. They are interactive lessons your people work through on screen, delivered as classroom video streaming or individual online access codes. You do not need your own platform to run them: Action Training Systems hosts the content. You bring the training room and the instructor. We bring the courses.
Action Training Systems is the United States course developer that has built emergency responder training since 1988. If you are the person who has to prove your team is trained and ready, this is content built for exactly that job.
Two training pathways
From incipient fires to exterior and structural
The catalogue is organised around two pathways, both built to the recognised NFPA industrial fire brigade standards. NFPA is the National Fire Protection Association, whose standards are used worldwide as the benchmark for fire competency. For industrial fire brigades that means NFPA 1081 and NFPA 600.

Catch it while it is small
Early stage fires that can still be tackled with portable equipment before they grow. This is the readiness level many workplace teams are expected to reach.

For the bigger events
For teams that respond to larger, more developed fires on or around site structures, with the equipment and tactics that calls for.
Teach, not just test
Courses that coach the gap, then check again
Plenty of online training plays a video, asks a question, marks a wrong answer and moves on, so you never learn the bit you missed. Action Training Systems built theirs differently: interactive video with teaching, testing and tracking together. When a learner answers incorrectly, the course stops, backs up and replays the information before letting them continue. Each course runs about an hour, and every step is tracked, so a safety manager can see exactly who has completed what.

The full industrial course list
Every industrial title, in one searchable list
The industrial fire brigade library is aligned to NFPA 1081 and NFPA 600, for plant, refinery and site fire teams. These are the individual course titles, each delivered by classroom video streaming or online access codes.
This is the current industrial list from Action Training Systems; ask us for the latest additions. Every course is individually searchable, so you can find one specific topic by name rather than a whole pathway.
Who needs it
Any site where a fire can start faster than help can arrive
South Africa runs more than 560 active mines, and mining sites, together with heavy manufacturing, petrochemical plants, refineries, warehousing and airports, all carry real fire and hazardous material risk on site every day.
Mine safety and response teams
On site emergency response for operations where readiness is a legal requirement, not an optional extra.
Manufacturing and warehousing
Safety officers who need proven fire response content and a clear record of who has been trained.
Petrochemical and fuel plants
Site fire teams handling high risk fuel and chemical hazards that demand rehearsed, repeatable response.
Airports and aviation ground
Ground fire response teams that must be ready for fuel and aircraft incidents on their own site.

Frequently asked questions
What online industrial fire safety training is available in South Africa?
SkillsTrain supplies around 30 industrial fire and safety course titles from Action Training Systems, as the exclusive South African distributor. They cover workplace and site based fire response across two pathways, an incipient (early stage fire) level and an exterior and structural level, built to the recognised NFPA industrial fire brigade standards. The courses are delivered as classroom video streaming or individual online access codes, with the content hosted by ATS, so there is no platform for you to run.
Who needs industrial fire brigade training?
Any workplace expected to respond to a fire or emergency on its own site before help arrives. In South Africa that typically means mines, manufacturing plants, warehouses, petrochemical and fuel facilities, airports and corporate safety teams. An industrial fire brigade is the team of trained employees who form that on site response.
How many industrial courses are there?
There are around 30 industrial fire brigade course titles in the Action Training Systems catalogue, of which 23 are interactive courses. Those totals are ATS figures, confirmed against the ATS catalogue in August 2026. Every course is individually searchable in the SkillsTrain catalogue search.
How can I deliver these courses to my team?
As a classroom streaming subscription, where the instructor streams the videos and resources on site, or as individual online access codes for staff working on their own. Action Training Systems hosts the content, so there is no platform for you to run, and every completion is tracked for compliance.
How much do the industrial courses cost?
Pricing is per learner, per year, with volume discounts for larger groups. SkillsTrain does not publish a fixed price list, because the South African price depends on learner numbers, the courses chosen and the exchange rate. Contact SkillsTrain with your learner numbers for a quote.
What standards are the industrial courses built to?
They are built to align with the recognised NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) industrial fire brigade standards, NFPA 1081 and NFPA 600. NFPA is the United States body whose fire competency standards are used as a benchmark worldwide. Accreditation itself sits with training facilities, not with SkillsTrain, which supplies and supports the resources.
