ATS EMT
ATS EMT is Action Training Systems' Emergency Medical Technician training line, and SkillsTrain, the authorised ATS distributor in South Africa, supplies it locally. It is the technician level step up from ATS's Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) series, built across 27 titles to NREMT (the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians) and NAEMSE (National Association of EMS Educators) standards.
The pathway runs from scene safety and patient assessment through to trauma, medical emergencies and special patient populations at the more advanced EMT scope of practice, going deeper into each topic than the entry level EMR series and adding EMT-specific content such as ambulance operations and air medical transport along the way. Like the rest of ATS's EMS range, it follows a teach, test and track model, testing the learner as they move through each title and replaying any section answered incorrectly before they continue.
ATS supplies free textbook correlation guides tying the series back to standard EMT reference manuals, and a FITS-compatible question bank is available separately for programmes running ATS's quiz generator system. Closed captioning is included. SkillsTrain supplies it on USB or as a classroom streaming option.
Who it is for: ambulance services, fire and rescue EMS divisions and training academies building or refreshing an EMT-level qualification pathway rather than relying only on on the job learning.
