ATS Pumping Apparatus - 5 Title Series
Pumping Apparatus is Action Training Systems' Driver and Operator series covering fire-engine pump operation, and SkillsTrain, the authorised Action Training Systems (ATS) distributor in South Africa, supplies it locally. It is a 5-title pathway that trains the driver and operator role from vehicle safety through to advanced water supply.
The five titles run in operational order. Safe Operation of Emergency Vehicles opens with the safety fundamentals of operating the apparatus. Positioning Apparatus covers where and how to place the engine on scene before pumping begins. Operating Fire Pumps covers the hands-on work of drawing water and maintaining pressure once the apparatus is positioned. Apparatus Inspection and Maintenance covers keeping the unit in service-ready condition. Water Shuttle and Relay Pumping closes the series with the advanced skill of moving water to a scene that lacks a direct hydrant supply, by shuttling tankers or relaying pump to pump.
It is built toward NFPA 1002, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) fire apparatus driver and operator standard. All titles use ATS's teach, test and track model: the course teaches a skill on video, checks the learner as they go, and when a question is answered incorrectly it stops, backs up and replays that section before the learner moves on, so the course teaches rather than only tests.
This entry is supplied on USB or DVD with a classroom streaming option. SkillsTrain also supplies a dedicated USB package and an online video series, with a facilitator guide, PowerPoint and FITS quiz-generator question bank available separately. Who it is for: departments training drivers and operators toward apparatus competency.
