202 - Rescue Operations
Rescue Operations is the second title in Action Training Systems' ATS Firefighter II series, and SkillsTrain supplies it locally as the authorised South African distributor for Action Training Systems (ATS). Building directly on the building-construction knowledge covered in the opening title, it moves a firefighter into advanced rescue operations at the Firefighter II level, the practical skills needed when a victim has to be located and removed from a structure or situation that goes beyond basic Firefighter I rescue. Advanced rescue work often means operating in confined, unstable or otherwise compromised spaces where the margin for error is small, so the title treats careful technique and team coordination as inseparable from speed.
The title sits within ATS's Firefighter II range, aligned to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1001 firefighter qualification standard, and uses the same teach, test and track model as the rest of the series: a learner watches the content, is tested on it, and any section answered incorrectly is replayed before they move on. It is supplied on USB or as a classroom streaming option, either individually or as part of the complete ten-title Firefighter II series, ahead of the Advanced Ventilation title that follows.
Who it is for: firefighters building advanced rescue competency beyond the Firefighter I level. It should not be confused with ATS's separate, ten-title Fire Service Rescue series, which covers specialist disciplines such as rope, confined space and water rescue in dedicated depth; this title covers rescue operations within the structured Firefighter I and II pathway. Training officers use it to confirm a class is ready for scenario-based rescue drills rather than classroom theory alone.
