206 - Foam Fire Streams

Foam Fire Streams is the sixth title in Action Training Systems' ATS Firefighter II series, and SkillsTrain supplies it locally as the authorised South African distributor for Action Training Systems (ATS). It covers foam-based suppression technique specifically, a step beyond the plain water-stream work already covered in Firefighter I, the kind of suppression a crew reaches for against flammable-liquid and similar fire types that water alone will not control well. Foam behaves very differently from plain water once it hits a fuel surface, which is why ATS treats it as a distinct skill rather than an extension of basic hose work.

The title sits within ATS's Firefighter II range, aligned to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1001 firefighter qualification standard, and uses the same teach, test and track model as the rest of the series, testing the learner as they progress and replaying any section answered incorrectly. It is supplied on USB or as a classroom streaming option, either individually or as part of the complete ten-title Firefighter II series, directly ahead of Fire Hose Appliances.

Who it is for: firefighters needing foam-suppression competency for flammable-liquid and similar fire types, as the sixth of ten titles in the Firefighter II series. Training officers typically schedule it for classes that will realistically face flammable-liquid incidents in their response area, rather than treating it as optional extra content.
