26 - Soft Tissue Trauma

Soft Tissue Trauma is the twenty-sixth title in Action Training Systems' 27-title Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) series, and SkillsTrain, the authorised ATS distributor in South Africa, supplies it locally as part of that series. It follows Orthopedic Emergencies and sits directly before the closing Spine Injuries title, late in the EMT pathway's run of trauma content.

The title focuses on managing wounds, burns and other soft tissue injuries at the EMT level, the everyday damage to skin, muscle and the tissue beneath it that a crew meets on nearly every trauma call. It builds on the splinting and fracture care taught in the previous title, giving the technician a dedicated, hands on grounding in wound assessment, dressing and burn management before the series moves on to spinal injuries.

It sits within ATS's EMT pathway, built to NREMT (the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians) and NAEMSE (National Association of EMS Educators) standards, and like the rest of the series it uses ATS's teach, test and track model, testing the learner as they progress and replaying any section answered incorrectly before they can move on. SkillsTrain supplies it on USB or as a classroom streaming option, on its own or as part of the complete 27-title series, with closed captioning included throughout.

Who it is for: EMT-level ambulance crew and EMS providers working through ATS's EMT pathway who need focused wound and burn care skills.
